Hurricane Work
This home in Naples Florida experienced a storm surge from a hurricane. Since flood water is considered Category 3 water we followed the IICRC standard for mitigating that damage. In this home we removed the hardwood flooring throughout, the affected drywall, which was all drywall up 2' off the floor. We then set up drying equipment to dry the plywood underlayment and the wood furring strips in the walls. We also detached the kitchen cabinets so that we could mitigate the damage to the floor beneath and the walls behind the cabinets. Our crew traveled to Florida and spent 3 weeks working on homes like this. There was approximately 12" of water in this home when the storm surge came through.
